ZPMC Completes Automation Project at Zhejiang Port
ZPMC has recently completed an automation project at the Shulanghu Ore Transfer Terminal located at Zhoushan Port in Zhejiang province, China. The project entailed automating material flow across ship-unloaders, eight stacker/reclaimers, and 48 conveyor belt lines. It also involved setting up a new control room environment and related equipment.
According to ZPMC, they developed a modern terminal equipment control system specifically for this project, incorporating intelligence, automation, and information to enable a seamless ‘one-click start’ whole-process automatic operation. This achievement marks the industry’s first implementation of such a system, allowing for smooth information exchange between planning, scheduling, operation, and equipment monitoring.
The Shulanghu Ore Transfer Terminal handled 17.5 million tonnes of blended mixed ore in 2021, making it the top facility in the country for this product based on data from local customs. The terminal has been managed by Brazil’s Vale since 2020, operating the Shulanghu Grinding Hub on-site.
