“Wincanton Expands in Scotland with Major Industrial Deal”

Wincanton Expands Scottish Operations with New Distribution Centre in Bellshill

Wincanton, a top supply chain partner for UK businesses, is pleased to announce the expansion of its Scottish operations with the establishment of a new distribution centre in the heart of Scotland’s ‘golden triangle’. The company has secured a 15-year lease for a brand new 126,960 sq ft unit at the Belgrave Logistics Park in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire. This deal, completed with developer Knight Property Group, is one of the largest industrial transactions in Scotland this year and the largest letting of a speculative new build in the Greater Glasgow market since 2018.

This move reflects Wincanton’s continued growth and commitment to Scotland, following the successful launch of their Scottish Gateway hub in Motherwell last April. The new distribution centre in Bellshill will complement the existing hub in Motherwell, offering enhanced services and operational efficiencies for customers across the country.

Derek Stirling, Country Manager for Scotland at Wincanton, expressed excitement about the new facility, emphasizing the company’s long-term commitment to Scotland. James Barrack, Chairman and Founder of Knight Property Group, also shared his enthusiasm for securing Wincanton as a tenant, highlighting their strategy of developing high-quality units in prime locations.

Belgrave Logistics Park, a £55m development by Knight Property Group, features state-of-the-art facilities designed to meet the needs of modern industrial operations. Wincanton’s unit includes advanced features such as high-performance cladding, a 12-meter internal height, multiple access points, office space, parking, and sustainable elements like electric car charging stations and energy-efficient lighting.

Alan Gilkison of Ryden and Ross Sinclair of Savills praised the transaction as one of the largest in Scotland, signaling the strong demand for quality industrial spaces in key areas. Ryden, JLL, and Savills played key roles in facilitating the deal, while various other professionals contributed to the project’s success.

Overall, Wincanton’s expansion in Scotland represents a significant milestone for the company and the industrial sector in the region, showcasing a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and strategic growth.
