“WFS Launches Leadership Academy with ACU for North American Staff”

PRESS RELEASE

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a member of the SATS Group, has announced the launch of a new Leadership Academy for employees in North America in partnership with Abilene Christian University (ACU). The goal of the course is to enhance operational management skills, provide a pathway for career advancement by equipping participants with the necessary tools for greater responsibilities, and position WFS as an employer of choice in the cargo and ground handling markets.

The inaugural class of the Leadership Academy consists of 28 participants, comprised of both current WFS team members and recent hires. They will undergo a 15-week leadership training program in Dallas Fort Worth and Los Angeles, two of WFS’ key locations in North America. The program includes a custom curriculum with a 7-week academic component and 7 weeks of on-the-job training at WFS stations in the respective cities.

The course will cover various modules, such as managing and leading, organizational culture, social awareness, coaching, resilience, and self-leadership. Guest lectures will be delivered by senior WFS leaders from different areas of the business, including Cargo, Express, Ground, Safety and Security, Finance, and Human Capital. Additionally, speakers from WFS customers will share their industry experience with participants.

Mike Simpson, CEO Americas, emphasizes the importance of recruiting top talent and investing in the growth of current employees to support WFS’ continued success. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a Manager-on-Duty Leadership Academy Credly Badge and up to 9 hours of college credit in Leadership, Management, and Communications.

Dr. Brenda McAdoo, Executive Director of Executive Education and Professional Advancement at ACU, expresses excitement about the partnership with WFS and the launch of the ‘WFS Leadership Academy Powered by ACU.’ The program aims to equip WFS managers with essential management principles to excel in a dynamic business environment and become standout leaders within the organization.

The Leadership Academy is set to become an annual training program for WFS employees, with participants selected from the company’s network of 85 stations in North America. The initiative aligns with WFS’ commitment to nurturing and developing employees to their fullest potential.

Garret Pustay, Manager, Passenger Services at WFS in Austin, Texas, commends the company’s investment in his capabilities through the Leadership Academy, noting the program’s significance in demonstrating WFS’ vision and commitment to employee development.

Overall, the Leadership Academy signifies WFS’ dedication to cultivating strong leadership and fostering a supportive work environment for its employees in the air logistics industry.
