“TIACA Opens Applications for Air Cargo Sustainability Awards”
The Air Cargo Sustainability Awards, hosted by The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), are now open for applications for their sixth edition. These awards aim to recognize businesses and initiatives within the air cargo industry that are leading the way towards sustainability. CHAMP Cargosystems, a key IT solution provider in the industry, has graciously committed to sponsoring these awards.
TIACA is seeking applications showcasing solutions and practices that bring positive change in various areas aligned with the eight key objectives for a more sustainable air cargo industry outlined in TIACA’s Sustainability Roadmap.
These objectives include environmental goals such as decarbonization, waste elimination, and biodiversity protection, as well as societal objectives like supporting local economies and communities, and enhancing lives and well-being. Additionally, goals related to culture and leadership, including improving efficiencies, profitability, employee development, and building partnerships, are emphasized.
The awards will be divided into two categories: the Corporate Prize and the Start-Up and Small Business Prize. Previous winners have included LATAM Cargo, United Cargo, and others. The Corporate Prize will recognize established corporations or international organizations with a significant presence in the cargo community, while the Start-Up and Small Business Prize will support young and small businesses making strides in the air cargo industry.
The Corporate Prize winner will receive USD 10,000, with two runners-up receiving USD 2,500 each. These awards aim to recognize and support sustainability efforts within the industry. Winners will also receive exclusive access to TIACA events, speaking opportunities, and publicity in TIACA’s communication channels.
Applications for the awards will be accepted from April 2, 2024, through September 15, 2024. A panel of independent industry and sustainability experts will select the winners, who will be invited to present their solutions at the Air Cargo Forum in November 2024.
TIACA’s Director General, Glyn Hughes, expressed pride in continuing to showcase the industry’s sustainable practices through initiatives like the Sustainability Awards and Mission Sustainability. The organization remains committed to supporting the industry’s sustainable transformation through various programs, surveys, and training resources.
