Swissport Expands Forwarder Handling to Frankfurt
Swissport has expanded its forwarder handling services, with JAS Worldwide now utilizing the service at Frankfurt Airport. While Swissport has been offering forwarder handling at its facilities in Vienna and Graz for a number of years, it is now looking to introduce the service globally.
JAS Worldwide has signed up for the forwarder handling service at Frankfurt, marking the latest location to offer this service. This service allows Swissport to establish direct business relationships with forwarders, rather than just airlines.
Services offered to forwarders include build-up/break-down, security screening, and sorting, which were previously handled by forwarders in their own warehouses. Swissport stated that this expansion of forwarder handling aligns with its holistic approach of serving the entire logistics community beyond just airlines.
Andreas Behnke, managing director interim of Swissport Cargo Services Germany and Austria, mentioned that offering forwarder handling contributes to customers’ value creation and reduces third-party involvement, leading to time and cost savings. Combined with digitalized processes and tools, the new offer allows for streamlined logistics processes and efficient freight handling.
Swissport has become JAS Worldwide’s sole cargo handling agent at Frankfurt Airport since January. Matthias Frey, vice president global airfreight operations at JAS Worldwide, expressed confidence in Swissport’s ability to deliver excellent service, particularly in the Pharma sector, based on their exceptional service record.
