Swiss World Cargo Seeks New Chief After Resignation
Swiss World Cargo is in search of a new chief executive following the unexpected resignation of Lorenzo Stoll. After being with the company for 11 years, Mr. Stoll will be leaving the airline at the end of July to take on the role of CEO at a Swiss healthcare company. He was appointed as the head of cargo at Swiss in April 2021, succeeding Ashwin Bhat who had moved to Lufthansa Cargo. During his time at Swiss, Mr. Stoll played a pivotal role in the turnaround of the airline’s local business and operations in western Switzerland, bringing it back to profitability.
Markus Binkert, the chief financial officer, praised Mr. Stoll for his innovative approach and customer-centric focus, highlighting his significant impact on the Geneva operations and Swiss WorldCargo division. Mr. Stoll’s efforts were particularly commendable during the Covid pandemic, where he ensured that Swiss WorldCargo continued to contribute to the airline’s revenue despite the challenges posed by low passenger numbers.
Mr. Binkert also acknowledged Mr. Stoll’s commitment to sustainability and his role in preparing the Swiss airfreight business for future challenges. He credited Mr. Stoll and his team for equipping Swiss WorldCargo with the necessary tools to navigate the evolving airfreight landscape within the Lufthansa Group.
Prior to joining Swiss, Mr. Stoll had a successful career at Nestlé spanning over a decade. Swiss has initiated the search for a new head of cargo to fill the vacancy left by Mr. Stoll’s departure.
