Raft CEO Advocates for Human-Centric AI in Logistics
Raft’s CEO, James Coombes, attended TIACA’s Executive Summit in Brussels this week, where he highlighted the importance of human-centric technology in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the global logistics industry. Coombes emphasized that AI can free up time for forwarders and customs brokers to focus on building and maintaining valuable relationships, which are essential for the success of the logistics industry.
According to Coombes, while AI shows great potential, trust and human relationships are crucial elements in logistics that cannot be replaced by technology. Raft’s approach is to use AI to automate routine tasks, allowing professionals in the industry to concentrate on nurturing important relationships. Coombes advised freight forwarders and customs brokers to gradually implement AI solutions to address operational challenges, recognizing the value of modern technology in improving efficiency.
Raft’s chief growth officer, Lionel van der Walt, also spoke on the Sustainability panel at the TIACA summit, highlighting the benefits of AI-driven solutions in preparing for upcoming sustainability regulations in the EU. Additionally, Raft’s chief technology officer, Nisarg Mehta, noted the benefits of AI in data entry and discrepancy identification for customs brokers, emphasizing the role of technology in enhancing operational efficiency and customer service.
