“New Skills Bootcamp Launch with BIFA Collaboration!”

TRS and BIFA Launch Skills Bootcamp to Support Employers in International Freight Sector

TRS, in collaboration with the British International Freight Association (BIFA), has recently unveiled a new Skills Bootcamp aimed at supporting employers in the international freight sector. This program is designed to provide an introduction to importing and exporting products, catering to individuals already working in freight forwarding or those looking to enter the industry. Subsidized by the West Midlands Combined Authority, this training course is available at a discounted rate for individuals residing or working within the combined authority’s catchment area.

Kevin Birch, Managing Director at TRS, expressed his excitement about the launch of the International Freight Forwarding Skills Bootcamp, highlighting the essential industry skills course offered at a reduced rate thanks to funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority. Partnering with BIFA, which will deliver key modules, TRS aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to thrive in the sector.

The flexible online course, spanning five weeks and totaling 60 hours, is structured to accommodate work commitments. It covers technical workshops and employment skills, including Freight Forwarding Essentials, Customs Essentials, Dangerous & Hazardous Goods, Customer Service Standards, Complaint Handling Processes, and Business Relationship Techniques.

The first course is set to begin in April, with TRS actively recruiting participants. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can access the training for £200 plus VAT, while larger employers with over 250 employees can enroll their staff for £600 plus VAT. This initiative comes at a critical time when industry demands are evolving rapidly, providing businesses with an affordable opportunity to upskill their workforce in international freight forwarding.

Carl Hobbis, BIFA member services director, noted the importance of initiatives like the Skills Bootcamp in promoting staff training and recruitment among BIFA members. Businesses interested in enhancing their workforce through this program can contact TRS for more information by emailing [email protected] or calling 01744 809 010.
