Konecranes Delivers State-of-the-Art Equipment to EJMT
Konecranes has delivered two new Gottwald post-Panamax ESP.8 mobile harbour cranes (MHC) to East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT) in Indonesia, a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI). These new cranes will enhance EJMT’s ability to handle bulk, project, and container cargo as they prepare to start operations in September.
Patrick Chan, CEO of EJMT, expressed satisfaction with the new post-Panamax MHCs, stating that they are essential for the ongoing development of the Lamongan terminal. These cranes are equipped with a diesel-electric hybrid system that utilizes ultracapacitors to provide short-term energy during peak power demand periods, reducing diesel consumption.
Holger Wagner, Konecranes regional sales manager for APAC, highlighted the advanced drive technology of the cranes and the cooperation with EJMT. These hybrid MHCs join EJMT’s existing equipment fleet, which includes reach stackers, empty container handlers, and more.
EJMT is located in Lamongan Regency, situated within the Lamongan Shorebase complex that supports Indonesia’s specialized offshore oil and gas industry. A joint venture between ICTSI and East Log Holdings, EJMT aims to become a domestic and international gateway for customers. The facility includes a 300-meter quay line, breakwater, super heavy lift breakbulk deck, and dredged navigational channel.
