Kerry Logistics Launches Air-Sea Service to Oceania
Kerry Logistics has recently introduced a new air-sea operation from Europe to Australia and New Zealand in response to delays in ocean shipping caused by the ongoing Red Sea crisis. The company’s new service involves transporting cargo from Europe to Hong Kong by air, before loading it onto a ship for the final leg of the journey to destinations such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland.
The service is available from various airports in Europe, including those in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, and Turkey, with a transit time of 20-24 days. In Hong Kong, the freight is processed in Kerry Logistics’ bonded facility.
Emma Rowlands, strategic sales director Europe at Kerry Logistics, explained that the service was launched in response to the need for a more efficient solution due to vessels having to navigate around the Cape of Good Hope to avoid risks in the Red Sea. She highlighted that the air-sea service has proven to be a cost-effective option, with some shipments arriving in Australia from Europe in less than 20 days.
According to the company, the new service is 50% cheaper than airfreight and three times faster than traditional seafreight on the same routes. This innovative approach aims to provide customers with faster and more reliable shipping options amidst the challenges faced in the region.
