IKEA Opens First Irish Logistics Center: 3 Day Deliveries!
IKEA has opened its first logistics facility in Ireland, allowing deliveries to reach customers within three days. The new distribution centre in South Dublin has a storage capacity equal to over 258,000 flatpack BILLY bookcases and is double the size of Croke Park. Customers with Dublin Eircodes will now receive their home deliveries in zero-emission vehicles, with plans to use only zero-emission vehicles for all deliveries in Ireland by August 2025.
The expansion in Ireland marks a significant milestone for IKEA, with the new facility employing over 200 people and reducing delivery times to just three days. The distribution centre is over 27,000 square metres and can house up to 9,000 product lines, making almost every IKEA product available to customers in Ireland.
IKEA plans to make over 300,000 deliveries in the first year of operation, increasing to nearly 600,000 within five years. The company aims to deliver up to three million items annually from the new centre.
The new distribution centre underscores IKEA’s commitment to sustainability, with features like rainwater harvesting and solar panels. IKEA is transitioning to exclusive zero-emission deliveries, with plans to only use zero-emission vehicles for all deliveries in Ireland by 2025.
The logistics facility is operated by Wincanton, with deliveries carried out by XPO Logistics. Both companies are committed to supporting IKEA’s sustainability goals and providing quick and efficient service to customers in Ireland.
