GEODIS wins contract with Irving Shipbuilding Inc. for ship logistics

Halifax-based Irving Shipbuilding Inc. (ISI) has awarded a contract to global logistics company, GEODIS, as part of their participation in Canada’s National Shipbuilding Program. The contract will cover inbound logistics services for ship construction and repair projects, including the Canadian Surface Combatant, Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships, and Halifax Class Frigate Repair Contracts. GEODIS’ Project Logistics team in Canada, supported by their global network of offices, will manage the contract and provide total asset visibility through their proprietary IT systems.

Michael Snow, Irving Shipbuilding’s Director of Supply Chain, stated that GEODIS was chosen for its global presence, industry-leading logistics capabilities, and commitment to working with local companies. This partnership helps ISI fulfill its obligations under the Canadian Government’s National Shipbuilding Strategy.

The Canadian Government’s Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy aims to stimulate jobs, innovation, and economic growth through defense procurement. The National Shipbuilding Strategy seeks to revitalize Canadian shipyards, strengthen the naval industrial base, renew the fleet, and create jobs. ISI’s programs align with these policies.

Luke Mace, GEODIS’ Senior Vice President Project Logistics, expressed excitement about the partnership and the opportunity to work with Irving Shipbuilding, a company with a significant role in Canada’s Navy. GEODIS aims to continue building their presence in Canada through this collaboration.
