Etihad Cargo Launches Boston Route for Increased US Capacity
Etihad Cargo Increases Capacity to US with New Boston Route
Etihad Cargo has recently expanded its US network by introducing a new service to Boston, Massachusetts. The inaugural flight arrived on 31 March, with plans for the airline to operate four flights per week to Boston. This new route, operated on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, will provide an additional 50 tonnes of cargo capacity per week, catering to the demand for freight between Boston and Abu Dhabi.
With Boston being a hub for food, pharmaceuticals, and research, Etihad Cargo’s expansion into this market is expected to enhance the flow of perishables and critical pharmaceuticals between the two regions. This move further strengthens Etihad Cargo’s comprehensive US network, which includes double daily flights to New York’s JFK airport, daily services to Chicago and Washington, and a weekly freighter service to Chicago, bringing the total number of flights to the US to 33 per week.
Stanislas Brun, Vice President of Cargo at Etihad Cargo, noted that the Boston route strategically increases belly capacity to partners and customers, particularly in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. The partnership with Worldwide Flight Services has also elevated Etihad Cargo’s premium offerings, ensuring consistent, high-quality air cargo solutions for customers, including specialized services for pharmaceuticals, perishable goods, and live animal transport. This expansion is part of Etihad Cargo’s ongoing efforts to enhance global connectivity and support trade across its network.
