“DHL launches GoHelp in Europe for disaster response”
DHL is expanding its GoHelp program to Europe in response to an increase in disasters affecting the continent. The new GoHelp Europe team is focused on disaster response and disaster preparedness, with the disaster response team currently undergoing training at Istanbul Airport. These teams are deployed to airports in need by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The Get Airports Ready for Disaster program, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, works to train airport personnel and local disaster management organizations to handle incoming relief goods more effectively. Christoph Selig, vice president of sustainability communications and programs at DHL Group, highlighted the need for this expansion in light of recent climate-related crises in Europe.
The DRT training includes theoretical and practical sessions with a focus on optimizing movement sequences and mastering techniques for assembling and disassembling pallets. DHL Group will also host a Global GoHelp Conference in Istanbul, providing a platform for discussions and collaboration within the humanitarian sector.
Overall, DHL’s expansion of the GoHelp program to Europe demonstrates their commitment to leveraging their logistics expertise to support disaster-affected regions and ensure a more efficient and coordinated disaster response.
