DFDS Doubles Electric Truck Fleet with 100 New Orders

DFDS Doubles its Fleet of Electric Trucks with Order for 100 Volvo Vehicles

DFDS has announced that it has placed an order for an additional 100 Volvo electric trucks, almost doubling the number of electric trucks in its fleet. This move is in line with DFDS’s commitment to green initiatives and its goal to become a net-zero company by 2050.

The new electric trucks will be deployed in various markets across Europe where DFDS already operates electric trucks. The company also plans to expand its operations to new markets such as the UK, Ireland, and Norway to meet the increasing demand for low emissions transport solutions.

The order of the 100 trucks solidifies DFDS’s position as a leader in the transformation of the heavy-duty transport sector in Europe. The company’s EVP of Logistics Division, Niklas Anderson, emphasized the importance of sustainable road transport and how the expanding fleet of electric trucks will help reduce the climate impact of operations.

The new electric trucks will be Volvo FH Electric and Volvo FM Electric models, continuing DFDS’s partnership with Volvo Trucks. The company currently has the largest fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks in Europe and aims to electrify at least 25% of its truck fleet by 2030.

With 95 e-trucks already operational in several countries and another 30 to be delivered by 2024, DFDS has already seen a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 1,516 tonnes thanks to its electric truck fleet. The company placed an initial order for 100 electric trucks in October 2021 and added 25 more trucks two months later.
