Descartes Systems Group Expands Customs and Regulatory Compliance Reach
Waterloo, Ontario, and Atlanta, Georgia – Descartes Systems Group (TSX:DSG) (Nasdaq:DSGX), the leading global provider of logistics solutions, has announced the acquisition of Aerospace Software Developments (“ASD”), a prominent provider of customs and regulatory compliance solutions. Based in Ireland, ASD specializes in customs declaration software for logistics services providers and shippers, as well as RFID solutions for the air logistics industry.
The acquisition of ASD strengthens Descartes’ Global Logistics Network (GLN) by adding expertise in Irish customs compliance and a modern customs technology platform. Additionally, the merger enables synergies between ASD’s RFID solutions and Descartes’ real-time tracking platform, CORE BLE, benefiting the airline community.
Descartes’ CEO, Edward J. Ryan, emphasizes the company’s commitment to offering a comprehensive suite of solutions to customers within the global logistics industry. The acquisition of ASD aligns with Descartes’ vision to serve a wide range of industry players, including shippers, carriers, and logistics services providers. The transaction, valued at approximately €57 million ($US 61 million), is expected to be finalized in Descartes’ fiscal 2025 fourth quarter, with €54 million paid at closing from cash reserves.
ASD, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, will integrate into Descartes’ operations, bringing with it a wealth of expertise, customers, and partners. This collaboration marks a significant step in Descartes’ ongoing efforts to expand its customs and regulatory compliance offerings within the global logistics landscape.
