Delta Cargo Implements Hub Control System to Improve Efficiency
Vishal Bhatnagar, the managing director of cargo operations at Delta Cargo, along with Kevin Vaz, the founder of Orga Dynamics, have collaborated to implement a new system known as the “Hub Control System” (HCS). This system has been introduced to enhance the efficiency of handling shipments and reduce service failures for shipments passing through Delta Cargo’s key hub stations.
Developed in partnership with Orga Dynamics, the Hub Control System offers Delta Cargo the capability to streamline the transfer connection process and prioritize shipments based on their scheduled departure times. Since its inception in April, the HCS has proactively rebooked over 3,000 air waybills before their arrival, significantly reducing service failures resulting from tight connection windows or known booking issues.
Delta Cargo has reported an average increase of 14% in overall transfer connection performance at its largest hub in Atlanta following the implementation of the Hub Control System. Additionally, the average offload recovery timeline has improved by 24%, leading to a nearly two-hour decrease in customer recovery times. This system has been rolled out across 11 key Delta Cargo hubs in the United States.
Vishal Bhatnagar expressed excitement about the modernized system, stating that it provides the warehouse teams with a valuable tool to ensure on-time performance through real-time decision-making. He sees this as a significant step towards achieving best-in-class service and enhancing reliability for customers. Kevin Vaz from Orga Dynamics also expressed his pleasure in partnering with Delta Cargo to deliver innovative solutions that support the airline’s goal of leading the industry in reliability.
