DB Schenker Achieves GDP Certification for 157 Stations, Enhancing Pharmaceutical Supply Chains
DB Schenker, a global leader in logistics, has recently achieved certifications in Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards for 157 of its stations, solidifying its commitment to excellence and regulatory compliance in pharmaceutical supply chains. This achievement means that DB Schenker can now cover 80% of the world’s healthcare flows with their recent certificates, making it one of the world’s largest GDP-compliant logistics networks.
GDP compliance is crucial in the healthcare industry as it ensures the integrity and quality of pharmaceutical products throughout the entire supply chain process. DB Schenker’s internal Global Healthcare Quality Management System adheres to the guidelines set out by the European Union (EU) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to meet these requirements. Veronique Dameme, Head of Global Vertical Market Healthcare at DB Schenker, emphasizes the importance of ensuring that medical products are stored and distributed according to the highest standards to ultimately benefit the patient.
In order to achieve certification, DB Schenker defined a global standard for all transport modes, making the GDP certificate a suitable choice. This comprehensive certification ensures that all processes, infrastructure, and staffing meet the stringent requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. After certification, stations undergo periodic risk-based re-audits based on continuously measured KPIs to maintain the highest quality standards.
Looking ahead, DB Schenker plans to certify over 180 of its stations within the next twelve months to further expand their GDP-compliant logistics capabilities. This ongoing pursuit of excellence in pharmaceutical logistics demonstrates DB Schenker’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the global pharmaceutical industry.
