“Custom Electric Materials Handler Delivered to Valet u. Ott Group in Germany”
Sennebogen recently delivered an electric 835 E materials handler with a customized rail-mounted undercarriage to construction materials specialist Valet u. Ott Group at its river port facility in Freiberg am Neckar, Germany, through local sales and service partner Schlüter.
The versatile machine, powered by a 200 kW electric motor, is used for loading and unloading vessels and trucks. All electrical drives are located in the rear of the upper carriage for easy and safe access. A non-slip tread surface enhances safety during maintenance work.
To allow the materials handler to move on existing crane rails at the port, a hydraulically driven rail undercarriage was chosen and adjusted to fit the existing rail span. Cut-outs and a bracket in the undercarriage were designed to accommodate the existing electrical box for controlling the sliding contacts, with the mechanical connection between the rails and the handler provided by Schlüter.
Valet u. Ott’s local operations manager, Marco Moradian, noted that the adapted rail undercarriage was a key factor in acquiring the electric material handler, as other manufacturers were unable to offer a satisfactory solution to their previous problems. The machine has been in operation for three years, meeting the customer’s expectations.
In a more recent development, a rubber-tyred 835 E, powered by a Stage V engine, was supplied to long-standing Sennebogen customer GWS Kraanbedrijf, an Antwerp-based crane rental and service company, through Sennebogen’s local partner SMT. GWS now has a fleet of 12 ropeless materials handlers, with eight of them being Sennebogen machines.
