“CargoAi Launches CO2 Efficiency Score for Green Choices”
CargoAi has introduced its CO2 Efficiency Score in response to a growing demand in the market for increased visibility on CO2 emissions. The new feature is part of the real-time Cargo2ZERO suite of solutions, providing a shipment emissions calculator that allows freight forwarders to make eco-friendly choices when booking online and engage in data-driven conversations with their customers.
Magali Beauregard, chief commercial officer of CargoAi, emphasized the importance of measuring targets in order to achieve them. The Cargo2ZERO suite was developed based on customer feedback highlighting the rising significance of sustainability in business decisions. This initiative is seen as a positive example of using technology for a good cause.
Many specific shippers are now asking for full transparency on CO2 emissions per Airway Bill (AWB), while numerous forwarders have set reduction targets in line with Scope 3 SBTI standards that require reporting. In addition to the Cargo2ZERO report, CargoAi has also introduced a CO2 Efficiency Score based on the IATA CO2 emissions standard.
These tools aim to facilitate constructive discussions and help the air cargo industry bridge the gap between intentions for climate action and actual implementation. By providing important information, CargoAi hopes to encourage forwarders to make more sustainable procurement decisions and actively reduce emissions.
Users of the CargoAi platform can now not only filter the cheapest or fastest connections, but also sort capacity offers according to their green credentials. The Cargo2ZERO report displays every booked AWB and its corresponding CO2 emissions, allowing forwarders to evaluate their choices and compare their Efficiency Score with others on the platform.
The report can be accessed on the CargoAi dashboard or downloaded as a XLS/CSV file, continually updated with each new shipment booking. Initially covering a four-month history, the report will expand over time. CEO Matt Petot emphasized CargoAi’s commitment to sustainability and using data to guide forwarders towards greener options and engage with clients on achieving net zero efficiency.
The introduction of the Cargo2ZERO report marks a significant milestone in CargoAi’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions, with more sustainability innovations planned for the future.
