Cargo-partner: Rail Surges as Alternative to Air and Sea
Cargo-partner, an Austrian-owned international forwarder, suggests that rail transportation could serve as a viable alternative to air and sea freight for shipments between Asia and Europe. They offer full- and less-than-containerload rail options that are fast, cost-effective, and eco-friendly for connecting Europe with China and various other Asian destinations.
Due to the Red Sea shipping crisis, Cargo-partner has witnessed a surge in demand for rail services and has consequently expanded their offerings to include connections to and from countries like Thailand and Taiwan. One recent example of their rail service involved transporting a full container of electrical goods from Thailand to Slovakia. The shipment utilized a truck from Thailand to Chongqing, China, rail transport to Małaszewicze, Poland, and final delivery to the consignee near Kosice. Despite taking longer than air freight, the door-to-door transit time was only 32 days, faster than sea freight options.
Felix Miletich, Cargo-partner’s director of corporate product management for rail transport, foresees an increasing need for intermodal solutions, particularly through the Chongqing-Europe and Wuhan-Europe rail routes. In another instance, Cargo-partner successfully moved a 915kg compressor from Bangkok to Poland, utilizing a combination of road and rail transport with a transit time of 30 days.
Furthermore, Cargo-partner offers regular less than containerload sea-rail services from Taiwan to Budapest via Shanghai, catering to the needs of various European electronics and manufacturing companies.
