Bolloré Logistics Leads the Way with Sustainable Air Shipments

Bolloré Logistics in the United States and at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport have implemented sustainable packaging for air shipments from Paris to Chicago, resulting in a saving of 12kg of deadweight. The company has already transported two pallets using the new material in February, and plans to schedule more shipments in partnership with two major airlines, as part of the forwarder’s affiliation with CMA CGM Group.

Emilie Foray, the Regional Director of Bolloré Logistics Midwest, explained that the decision to invest in reusable pallet covers was to minimize environmental impact. She highlighted the negative impact of single-use packaging materials like plastic wraps on landfills, and emphasized the cost-effective and sustainable benefits of opting for reusable options.

In 2022, Bolloré Logistics introduced its Recycle program to promote the reuse of consumables for transport and logistics through a dedicated web and mobile application. The company has been using sustainable packaging in the Americas region for several years, including reusable pallet wraps, straps, collapsible boxes, and an isothermal kit for winter shipments to Montreal, resulting in a saving of over two tonnes of plastic since 2021.

Camille Vanderghote, the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for Bolloré Logistics Americas, expressed the company’s commitment to extending this initiative to other customers in the region. The company is actively exploring options to reduce the use of plastic film and other consumables, and is dedicated to promoting a greener supply chain through a combination of transport and logistics expertise.
