BIFA Appoints Sam Warren as Chair of Sustainable Logistics Group

BIFA, the UK freight association, has named Sam Warren from Woodland Group as the inaugural chair of its new Sustainable Logistics Policy Group. Warren, who also serves as the sustainability manager at Woodland Group, previously worked as an environmental and sustainability officer for Chelmsford City Council. He graduated from the University of London’s Goldsmiths College.
The Policy Group was established in 2023 by the trade association to address current and future environmental issues affecting its members’ operations. Warren was elected during a meeting in March, where discussions centered around sustainable goals and policies, including EU measures like the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and the Emissions Trading Scheme for shipping.
Steve Parker, the director general of BIFA, noted that members are at different stages in developing environmental policies, and Warren’s leadership will help shape best practices and influence policy decisions. Warren expressed his enthusiasm for the role, emphasizing the importance of addressing a variety of environmental and sustainability issues within the freight and logistics industry.
Overall, the Sustainable Logistics Policy Group aims to guide BIFA’s interactions with government and other stakeholders on environmental legislation, showcasing the industry’s commitment to sustainability.
