Amerijet Soars with Rapid Fleet Expansion to Meet Growing Demand
Amerijet is confident in the continuous growth of air cargo. The Miami-based airline has been rapidly expanding its fleet in 2022 under the leadership of chief executive Tim Strauss, who is optimistic about the demand to fill the aircraft.
Strauss, with his extensive experience in the industry, noted that the current market presents a significant shift that everyone is now familiar with the concept of supply chain. Starting his career at Purolator Courier and holding senior roles at logistics firms like Emery Worldwide and Delta, Strauss brings a wealth of knowledge to Amerijet.
The airline has recently added six B757 freighters to its fleet, with plans to introduce five B767s next year. These additions will bring Amerijet’s total fleet to 25 freighters, allowing for increased capacity and service offerings. In addition to expanding their fleet, Amerijet has invested in recruiting flight crews and upgrading systems and infrastructure to support their growth.
Strauss highlighted that the new aircraft will enhance their services in the Caribbean, Latin America, and European markets, reducing reliance on costly external sources for lift. Amerijet also caters to large integrators and carries postal volumes in the US, positioning itself as a vital player in the air cargo industry.
While competition in the market is rising with new entrants and expansions from existing players, Strauss remains confident in the demand trajectory exceeding capacity until 2030. He believes that long-term structural changes, such as increased e-commerce growth and shifting passenger travel trends, will benefit freighter operators like Amerijet.
Furthermore, Amerijet’s strategic partnerships and long-term deals with customers and freight forwarders demonstrate a commitment to securing supply chains and providing reliable services. The airline’s investment in new aircraft, systems, and sustainability measures reflects its dedication to meeting evolving market demands and maintaining a competitive edge.
As Amerijet continues to expand and adapt to market dynamics, Strauss remains optimistic about the long-term growth prospects for the air cargo industry. With a focus on diversification, innovation, and customer satisfaction, Amerijet is well-positioned to navigate the changing landscape of the air cargo market under Strauss’ leadership.
